Hi everybody!

My name is Kristyna, I'm 28 years old and this is my story.

It all started when I was six years old and my first teeth fell out. All was good so far, nobody knew what will come later. When my second teeth started to grow, I developed an overbite. As usual I got braces.

Later though it became obvious that my jaw stopped developing and there simply wasn't enough space in for all my teeth. My canines started pushing the other teeth out. I've consulted a bunch of dentists who decided to solve this by giving me braces which I have been wearing till this day.

Those of you who have experienced braces know that even just one year of this is quite annoying. It limits what food you can eat, it requires constant care, and it is uncomfortable to wear.

I have been wearing them for 18 years. You can imagine this is not something you want to have in your life for such a long time. I have braces on my top and bottom teeth, preventing them from falling out and moving side to side.

I have been to a ton of tooth specialists who have discussed what has even happened with my teeth and how can that be fixed. Experts in the field have looked at my case, nobody could come up with a solution.

I have spent weeks at the dentist's offices. Unfortunately non of the dentists knew what they were doing.

When I was 17 I undertook genetic testing that revealed I have an unknown anomaly which causes resorption of my tooth roots - their programmed loss. It is predicted that this resorption will continue. In 2012, when the growth was completed, I underwent bimaxillary orthognathic jaw surgery (lower and upper jaw displacement) due to a deep bite. This unfortunately means that because of the long-term deep bite, which even after moving the jaw still needs to have the implants increased, my joint heads at the jaw joints are destroyed. If I go through surgery later to receive implants, they have to replaced my joints heads completely.

My goal is to raise the funds for my teeth implant surgery. In Czech Republic it can't be covered by the insurance company. I talked to most insurance companies, trying to convince them that I wasn't an ordinary case and didn't ask them to pay for the operation from an aesthetic point of view. It's not just that I don't smile much, because people look at my teeth right away. I suffer from everyday pain, I can't eat anything hard, hot, cold, and I'm really afraid when a situation arises and the fixation device won't hold my teeth anymore. Also, because of the hindered jaw development, I have a kid's face, so people don't believe me when I tell them my age. And since the insurance companies won't help me, I am turning to you for help.

With your support, I can put together the funds for the surgery, which is around USD 45.000 (including tax) I will be able to get rid of the daily excruciating pain when my teeth react to every weather change. You would help me to eat normally, I could finally feel how it is to eat an apple and other hard foods.

TO LIVE NORMALLY

Thanks to your support I could be happy and enjoy my life fully. Without fearing of biting into something that will cause my teeth to fall out.

If there is money left after the surgery, I would put them into a foundation that would help other people who face similar issues that can't be covered with insurance. Because I know very well how it feels when you know what would help you but can't afford it. This issue that has been with me half of my life is not something I could pay to solve. I tried to ask many people for help but just one person can't donate this amount by himselve.

If a lot of people give me a tiny amount each, I could get the necessary funds and see what life is like without braces.

THANK YOU ALL

Yours, Kristyna
